Pet-Friendly Rentals in Amherst, NY

Rentler currently shows 4 pet-friendly listings in Amherst, including properties that accept cats, small dogs, and large dogs. Inventory is updated daily. Use the pet type options in the filter above to narrow to properties that accept your specific animal.

Pet deposits typically range from $200–$500 per pet and are often partially or fully refundable at move-out if no pet damage is documented. Some landlords charge monthly pet rent ($25–$75/mo per pet) instead of or in addition to a deposit. Always ask for the full pet fee structure in writing before signing — and factor both the deposit and monthly pet rent into your total cost when comparing units.

Large-dog-friendly rentals exist in most markets but represent a smaller share of pet-friendly inventory overall. They're most common in single-family homes, townhomes, and ground-floor apartment units. Use Rentler's large dog filter option to narrow results. Even on large-dog-friendly listings, breed restrictions are common — confirm with each landlord directly.

Breed restriction policies vary by landlord and are not standardized. Commonly restricted breeds often include pit bulls (and mixes), rottweilers, German shepherds, and Dobermans — though some landlords restrict additional breeds or none at all. Always confirm the specific breed policy before paying an application fee.
